Since 2007, Grants Plus has assisted numerous and diverse organizations with their grant writing needs. We’ve helped our clients raise more than $5 million in funding since January 2011. Our staff’s over 50 years of combined experience is outlined below.


lauren steinerLauren Steiner, President

Lauren Steiner founded Grants Plus to benefit organizations through her expertise and enthusiasm for raising money for worthy causes. She has successfully raised grant money for human services agencies, schools, cultural institutions, civic initiatives, and media projects for over ten years. She has also provided guidance and writing for the successful launch of a nonprofit earned-income venture.

Ms. Steiner, an attorney, is an active member of Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and has served on the board of the Greater Cleveland Chapter. She also served as an adjunct instructor at Cleveland State University from 2002 to 2008. In 2007, she was named one of the “Top 25 Under 35” by Inside Business Magazine. She has a B.S. in Telecommunications from Ohio University and a J.D. from Cleveland State University, Cleveland Marshall College of Law. She launched Grants Plus in 2007.

lisa mcaloneyLisa McAloney, Consultant

Lisa McAloney has seventeen years of experience in the healthcare and human services nonprofit industry. Her background includes program development, foundation management, grant making, nonprofit technology solutions as well as fund development.

Most recently she spent four successful years as the Director of Resource Development at Cleveland Rape Crisis Center. She is an experienced grant writer and reviewer, and has had writing published in industry publications. Lisa joined Grants Plus as a consultant in 2008. She has a B.S.B.A.–International Business from Bowling Green State University.

wendy messeloffWendy Lefko Messeloff, Consultant


Wendy Lefko Messeloff is a journalist by training, with several years of experience as a writer in a variety of professional capacities. She has worked in corporate communications for MTV Networks; nonprofit research and analysis for the Anti-Defamation League's National Civil Rights Information Center; domestic policy advocacy and government relations for Hadassah; and most recently, fundraising and grant writing as the Director of Grants Development for the Jewish Community Federation of Cleveland.

As a grant writer, Wendy has raised funds for six-figure capital projects, small community-based programs, and a range of human, social and educational services in the Cleveland area. She earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University.

lisa sierkLisa Paul Sierk, Consultant

Lisa Paul Sierk has worked with non-profit organizations as a volunteer for several decades and began her professional development career after being recruited from one of her volunteer positions. Sierk has worked in fundraising for the American Cancer Society, the Arthritis Foundation, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Northern Ohio Chapter, the Gathering Place and Judson Retirement Community in Cleveland and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in Dallas, Texas.

Throughout her career, Sierk remains an active and involved volunteer, serving as a National Officer for the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation, Grants Chair for Trinity Lutheran Church, and Chair of the Essentials of Fundraising Series for the Greater Cleveland Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
She has a BA in Mathematics from Ohio Northern University.

alicia goodelleAlicia Goodelle, Consultant

Alicia Goodelle is a trained policy analyst with over 15 years experience working in academia and for human services nonprofits. She has a demonstrated ability in community assessment, program review and fund administration, outcomes presentation and measurement, communication with donors and using technology to improve efficiencies in grant application and reporting. Most recently she was the Community Impact Manager at United Way of Erie County (Pennsylvania). She has also held research positions at United Way of Central Indiana (Indianapolis) and Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs.

Alicia earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Penn State and a Master of Public Affairs from Indiana University. She lives in Lorain County and enjoys helping her community by serving on the Board of Directors of Avon/Avon Lake Community Resource Services and as a Girl Scout leader.

lisa stofanLisa J. Stofan

Lisa J. Stofan is a grant writing and organizational development consultant with twenty years of experience with nonprofit organizations as a program manager, executive director, and consultant for civic, human service, and mental health organizations. In these positions she has specialized in working with small and/or start-up organizations to build capacity for long-term sustainability by concentrating on developing strong internal functions, such as governance/board development, planning, and fundraising processes. Her success as a grant writer has enabled these organizations to provide valuable services in our community for some of our most vulnerable citizens.    

Lisa has a BA degree in Sociology/Criminal Justice from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She devotes volunteer time to Joel’s Place for Children, NAMI Greater Cleveland, and Suicide Prevention Education Alliance.
